Light weight, very succinct easy to carry with you on your journey travel guide of Portugal. Whats different about this guide is, it's written by locals & therefore provides a locals viewpoint. Ever wonder where the locals eat? Well, this book will help you find it. It starts with some basic history of Portugal & covers helpful topics like, what to know before you go, etiquette, safety, climate, where to eat & sleep & ends with a Portuguese language survival kit. Theres a little info on the islands of Funchal & Ponta Delgado. Diving deeper it also tells you how to get tot he places its recommend by car, train, bus or city transit. Another great feature is the Bucket list. For example, when visiting the center there's a list of recommended activities such as riding the free funicular. I feel this book a great resource & a refreshing change from your average travel book. I recommend.
I bought this book because it looked interesting and not overly boring like similars guides.The attention to design and detail is very clear in its cover and even more when you start reading it.The fact that the content was written by natives shows in several quirky facts and tips throughout the book.Finally, the fact that a percentage of the earnings go to charity makes this an easy and feel good buy decision.
I bought this book because it was written by locals. And from their point of view, what is worth seeing in each of the areas of Portugal. Suggestions of places to avoid as well as must see sights, and local foods to taste. All in little bite sized sections. It is small enough to bring along on our trip and I am sure I will be consulting it daily.
This is an interesting travel guide and I found it a good supplement to a normal travel guide, like Lonely Planet or DK. It is concise and succinct, with a bucket list of places to see at each major stop, but it does not contain maps or general travel information for Portugal. It does have some interesting places to go that the standard travel guide did not, so I think it is worth buying as long as you also have a standard travel guide.
Love the easy to read and well organized layout. Would recommend! Downside--you will need to purchase another book with more detail after you narrow down your interest.
Really just to read up on Portugal, I did not book anything based on its recommendations.
